Product Visualisation

For our new product we are required to take an everyday object or household item and to use our abilities to analyse research and methods to solve 3 dimensional problems

As part of this project i feel it would be best to turn this household item into a weapon of mass destruction, as there are many various keys and components that would be useful for a perfect and eye catching design. So I will reaserch some weapons and objects

 

 

 

For my reaserach and previous experience with games is that i needed to find out what catches the eye and makes the product design appealing and cool, for this i decided that futuristic (alien) looking weapons are the most practical for an idea like this in my opinion, because i think it strikes fear while at the same time displays a great futuristic looking finish which is what i want for my design 

 

 

 

Throughout my reaserch I have found a range of great sleek and smooth designs of computer speakers and it has really inspired me to think of the many designs I can create so as my template i have decided to use my own personal computer speakers

 

 

 

After my reaserch and designs thhis is the template for the speaker bass cannon I choose them because the various circular and cuboid shapes applied into the design of the speakers which hold possibilities for many different designs.

This is my base design for the Bass Cannon I drew it keeping in mind the speakers I was trying to copy and as you can see I have made my own moderations involving my research in ray guns and futuristic weapons, with this I created a simple design for various weapons attactched to different parts of the speakers to completely reshape its image, this is one of my main designs however its not my final design, as I go along i will make some slight changes to it.

This is my final model for the sub woofer design, as above you can see my progression in creating this from scratch and using the design of my own personal speakers, and added my own touch of creativity using, references of various types of alien weapons, to create as most would call it a ray gun. I am now going to go on to create the other two speaker designs.

 

This is the final model for the 2 speakers in my design that will have the same layout, I found this object quite hard to create because of the range of polygons that had to be used and changed to create some of the shapes and curves in this model however, i managed to finish it in the end, and now the next step of this visualisation is to learn how to add image based lighting and how to texture using uv mapping.

This is a quick project we did to learn how to add image based lighting to your model, and then to merge the plane with your background image so that it gives the impression that the model is actually in the image to make it look realistic.

This is all of my progress throughout the time i have been texturing you can see the different styles and elements I tried to use to really make the model come to life, I had to use many reference images to find the right textures for certain things in the end I used a variety of images textures and bump mapping to finish my model, so now I will render out the images to preview seperate parts of the model and then turn it all into a slideshow.

I am now going to concentrate on texturing all contents of my model to make it more realistic, and will be using a range of techniques like planar and uv mapping.

Here are my final image renders for the speaker as you can see the assortment of textures and colors iv'e used have really brought the model to life in many ways.

These are the final image renders for the turret in this one I really tried to just capture the essence of alien weponary and turning it into I kind of weapon you would associate that with.

And lastly the final renders for the sub woofer and the ray gun, I think the collection of contrasts in the textures for this model really make the box and the gun seem very realistic, along with the light beams at the end of the weapon really captures te design I was trying to create.

This is my final rendered image of the speakers on an image based background, I was really happy with the colors and textures i used as it really brought the model to life and mad it actually look like something from the future, and mainly the bump mapping as it really gave the model that touch of realism that I needed in my visualisation.

This is just a quick movie made to showcase all parts of my visualisation to show my progression and the overall level of realism it shows i really like how it has turned out.
